Live Translation

The Live screen is where your media operator runs real-time sermon translation. Open it from the dashboard by clicking Start / Translate on a room.

Service workflow

A typical Sunday service follows this flow:

Idle → Start Service → Active (recording) → Pause (optional) → End Service → Prepare Next Service
ControlWhat it does
Start ServiceOpens the live session for viewers; mic and translation controls become available
Start translationBegins recording — speech is transcribed and translated in real time
Pause / ResumePauses live translation for viewers; the service stays open so you can resume
End ServiceDisconnects all viewers, finalizes the recording, and saves the session to history
Prepare Next ServiceResets the room after a service ends so you can start the next one
Automatic limits
  • 30-minute idle timeout — if no interaction before recording starts, returns to dashboard
  • 4-hour max session — recording auto-stops to prevent unintended usage
  • Balance depletion (On-Demand) — recording stops when prepaid balance reaches zero; Pro / Premium can continue on subscription overage (see Account & Billing)

Step 1: Set up audio and languages

Microphone

  1. Select your Microphone from the dropdown (USB mixers, VB-Cable, or built-in mic).
  2. Watch the mic level meter while speaking:
    • Amber — input is too quiet; raise gain or speak louder
    • Green — good level for speech recognition
    • Red — clipping; turn the mic down
  3. Your mic choice is saved in this browser.

Languages

SettingPurpose
Speaker languageLanguage spoken by the preacher (sent to speech-to-text)
Live Translation / Live Translation 1Language for Target 1 (ProPresenter / OBS / vMix) and the operator translation view
Live Translation 2Second on-screen language feed (optional dual captions)

While recording, you cannot change microphone, speaker language, or Live Translation languages. Caption size, overlay URLs, and ProPresenter Direct are under Account → Settings → Screens & Broadcast.

Translation mode

Switch between two pipeline phases:

ModeBest forBehavior
MC & IntroAnnouncements, welcomesShort cues · fast captions (lowest latency)
SermonMain messageFull sentences · higher accuracy

Both modes share the same Speaker pace (Fast / Normal / Slow) silence wait from Advanced. Pause translation before switching modes.

Step 2: Share the congregation QR code

Click QR Code in the Live top bar to open the congregation viewer link. Attendees scan it with their phones to follow live translations. See Mobile Viewers for details.

You can also copy the QR as an image with a custom message for slides or bulletins.

Step 3: Start translation

Click Start translation. Captions appear in the operator panel as the speaker talks:

  • Original Script — speech-to-text output
  • Real-time Translation — translated captions

Use Latest to scroll to the newest caption.

Screen captions (ProPresenter / OBS / vMix)

  1. In the Languages section, pick Live Translation language(s).
  2. Open Account → Settings → Screens & Broadcast to copy Web Overlay URL targets, set caption size, send a test, or enable ProPresenter Direct.

See Broadcasting for Prop Web Object, ProPresenter Direct, and OBS / vMix guides.

Viewer count

The Live header shows how many congregants are connected:

  • Waiting — viewers connected but service not started
  • Live — active viewers during translation
  • Session ended — no viewers after End Service

Congregants can choose any supported viewer language on their phones; usage is billed per active language.

Upload sermon PDF (optional)

Before or during setup, click UPLOAD PDF to upload a sermon manuscript. OmniWord extracts keywords and a summary to improve translation accuracy for church-specific terms and context.

After upload, click View AI Report to see extracted keywords and the sermon summary.

Advanced settings

Open ADVANCED (top bar) for room environment and speaker pace tuning only. See Advanced Settings for the full reference.

Overlay URLs and ProPresenter Direct live under Screens & Broadcast. Congregation QR stays on the Live top bar — see Mobile Viewers.
