Caption windows (browser)

Show on-site captions without ProPresenter, OBS, or vMix. Live opens a second browser window that contains only captions — never the operator console.

There are two windows:

  • Reading screen — the display shows translation, not slides. Recent sentences stay, and the window can go full screen.
  • Caption strip — one line at a time. In Chrome and Edge you can resize it up to about 80% of the screen. It cannot go full screen.

If captions must sit on top of lyrics or slides on the same program output, use ProPresenter or OBS / vMix instead.

Reading screen

The newest sentence is large at the bottom and types on. The two sentences above it stay smaller and dimmer, so people can finish reading after the next line arrives. Older lines drop off. New lines appear right away.

  1. On Live, in Languages, choose Live Translation (and Live Translation 2 if you need a second language).
  2. Click the lines button next to the monitor button. A black window opens.
  3. Drag the window onto the sanctuary display. Press F11 for full screen.
  4. Start the service as usual. The operator stays on Live; only this window goes to the screen.

Move the mouse to show − / + (or press − / +). The controls hide after a moment so they do not stay on the sanctuary screen. Size is remembered in that browser. 1.0× is the default; you can raise it up to 2.0×.

If Live Translation 2 is set, click its lines button as well. Each language has its own window.

Allow pop-ups

If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for the OmniWord site and click the lines button again.

Caption strip

Each new line replaces the previous one. Open it with the monitor button on Live, or Open window under My Account → Settings → Screens & Broadcast.

In Chrome and Edge the first caption strip stays on top of other windows. You can resize it up to about 80% of the screen. It cannot go full screen. Use the reading screen when that display should show translation only.

Size controls work the same way: move the mouse for − / +.

One screen with PowerPoint or lyrics

A PowerPoint or Keynote slideshow usually takes over the whole monitor. You cannot park either window on top of that slideshow. For lyrics plus captions on one output, composite in ProPresenter or follow PowerPoint and Keynote under OBS / vMix.

Not the congregation QR page

Phones stay on Mobile Viewers. These windows are for a hall screen. OBS and Prop still use the transparent Web Overlay URL, not these black windows.
